SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Centralized Dispatch Supervisor, this position is responsible for timely, courteous and professional answering of customers’ phone calls for the day-to-day acceptance and distribution of orders scheduling pick-ups and/or deliveries, and for ensuring proper and timely dispatching of STAT orders to the Independent Contractor (IC) fleet. This position is responsible for ensuring customer requirements are met for order entry, tracking and providing proof of deliveries, problem solving, and technical support for on-line customers and IC’s for the select area. This role requires some flexibility in work schedule. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned. • Tracks all deliveries and assists customers in an expeditious manner with troubleshooting of orders, providing pick-up and delivery times for proof of deliveries, and any other problem solving. • Courteously answers customer support phones in a professional manner, ensuring all calls are answered and returned promptly, and within customer committed guidelines. • Accurately enters customer orders, dispatches orders, and relays transportation charges to customers using the appropriate service level, vehicle requirements, mileage and weight. • Maintains superior customer relations and ensures customers’ critical expedited deliveries are secured and controlled, while following all other designated specifications. • Provides technical/help desk support for customers and IC’s who may have problems or questions with on line order entry, system or ETA device issues. • Plans and assigns pickups/deliveries to maximize productivity and provide a consistent, highly valued “customer experience.” • Maintains daily exception reporting to track service issues. • Maintains high awareness and commitment to superior customer service. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Transportation experience/background required. Two to three years relevant experience required. Must be proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, with use of computers and have experience with Map Programs. Must be able to dispatch Independent Contractors throughout the states of Ohio and Kentucky, so both a macro and micro knowledge of geography is critical. Must have excellent communication and negotiation skills, with strong customer service skills. Extensive knowledge of regional roadways and geographical knowledge of each delivery center is required. Must be able to multitask and have a sense of urgency. Must be able to work independently.
